To the Nations of Afrika, the Global Afrikan Diaspora, and the Ancestors Who Endured:
We woke up.
Not all of us. Not perfectly. Not painlessly. But something shifted. Somewhere between the fire in our streets and the flood in our history books, we, the United States of America, began to reckon with the truth we buried beneath flags, textbooks, and monuments.
And so, let us say it clearly, finally, and without excuse: We were wrong. We were complicit. And you should not have had to demand justice for 366 years and counting.
From 1659 to 2025, and long before and after, our nation participated not just in slavery, but in a global system of Afrikan exploitation. We financed coups. We destabilized nations. We imprisoned the brilliant. We silenced the sovereign. We exported our greed and marketed it as democracy. And while we painted ourselves as reluctant beneficiaries, we were deliberate architects of suffering.
